Plastic Surgery

Our Program

The plastic surgery training program is a six-year integrated program with two residents accepted each year. The individuals selected for this pathway are matched directly into the first year of postgraduate training though the National Resident Matching Program. Our program offers a specifically tailored experience during the first three years, incorporating a three month rotation in plastic surgery for each of the first three years along with other specifically designed rotations intended to compliment the core knowledge needed by a plastic surgeon. A strong base for these rotations will be in general surgery, but additional experience will be spent in ENT, orthopaedics, intensive care, dermatology, and burn care. The fourth year will incorporate six months of protected research time and six months of clinical plastic surgery. The last two years will be an intensive core experience in clinical plastic surgery. This program involves the individual in plastic surgery and in plastic surgery activities at the very beginning of the surgical training experience and identifies the resident as a plastic surgery resident from day one.

Statistics of interests: Inservice exam scores during the past 5 years have averaged over the 75th percentile. All resident graduates have been successful in passing the examinations of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and becoming certified for the past 20 years. All graduates during the past 10 years have obtained their preference of practice-job location.
