Cardiothoracic Surgery

Our Program

The Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency Program at the University of Missouri-Columbia is a two-year program, with one resident accepted each year. Five years of general surgery residency is required before beginning the Cardiothoracic Surgery residency. Residents are selected through the NRMP with applications through Eras.

The program is dedicated to developing strong clinical decision making, surgical skills, and patient care. In addition, the resident will develop administrative and teaching skills for an academic setting and practice management skills for a private setting.

Emphasis is placed on developing a close working relationship between the residents and faculty. The program is resident oriented with the resident receiving increasing responsibility during training.
