Burn Care
University of Missouri Health Care provides comprehensive burn care for adults and children in the George David Peak Memorial Burn Care Center. This includes initial management of the severely burned patient as well as outpatient management of minor burns. Health care professionals at University Hospital have been caring for patients in the George David Peak Memorial Burn Care Center since 1968.
Today the Burn Center is housed in University Hospital and Clinics' new Critical Care Tower. This new structure provides the latest in medical technology for critically ill patients. Each unit has an air handling system that completely exchanges the air six times per hour with fresh filtered air. The new, larger rooms provide more room for patient care and teaching, and also provide adequate space to give patients and their families more privacy.
